The Land for the Taking Part 2

Exodus 23:20-33

Introduction:

Theme: Four crucial factors for Israel in taking the promised land, so you recognize the relationship between the Lord’s purpose and man’s responsibility in it.

1. The Role of the Angel of the LORD vv. 20-23 cf. 3:8 places 32:34 “My angel” 33:2 “an angel”

The presence of His Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 1 Thessalonians 4:8).

The Holy Spirit indwelling the believer brings us comfort in the Christian life (Acts 9:31), conviction of sin (John 16:8) and confirmation of belonging to God, as a pledge of our inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14).

The Holy Spirit leads us (Romans 8:14; Galatians 5:18), fills us for ministry (Acts 4:31; Ephesians 5:18), grants us access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18), strengthens us with power (Ephesians 3:16), provides us unity as a body (Ephesians 4:3), fellowship together (Philippians 2:1), helps us in prayer (Romans 8:26) and “testifies with our spirit that we are children of God” (Romans 8:16).
